How we use your email address
This page is about the Tapkeep waitlist and nothing else.
What we keep
Your email address, whether you want Tapkeep for yourself or for a team, which form you used, and when you joined and confirmed.
With it: when we sent you the email that asks you to confirm and how many times, which version of the sentence under the form you agreed to, and, if you leave, when.
So that one mailbox is one entry however its address is typed, we also keep a plainer spelling of it: at the mail services that ignore them, without the dots in the name or the tag after a plus.
To stop one internet connection adding hundreds of addresses, we count how often each connection asks in an hour. For that we keep a scrambled form of the connection's address, for up to a day.
Why
To write to you when Tapkeep opens, and with news along the way, such as a crowdfunding campaign.
We also count how many addresses are on the list, and how many want Tapkeep for themselves and how many for a team. A count names nobody. Which form you used tells us which page people join from.
We do not sell your address, and we do not give it to anyone for their own marketing.
Who handles it
Cloudflare, which runs this site, keeps the list and delivers the email that asks you to confirm. Like any host, it also keeps short-lived records of the requests it serves.
Before an address is taken, Cloudflare also checks that a person is joining, not a program. The check runs in your browser and sees your connection's address.
A newsletter service will deliver the news. It will be given your address, whether you want Tapkeep for yourself or for a team, and when you confirmed. This page will name it before the first message goes out.
How long
Until you leave. If you never confirm, your address is deleted 30 days after the last email we sent it.
When you leave, we send you no more news, and we delete your address 30 days later. In those 30 days an address that had never confirmed is sent nothing at all, whoever asks. One that had been on the list can ask to join again, and then starts afresh with the email that asks to confirm.
A deleted address can stay in the database's own restore history for up to 30 days more.
Leaving, and asking
Every email we send has a link to leave. It opens a page with one button. Many mail programs also show an unsubscribe button of their own, which works in one press.
You can also write to hello@tapkeep.me to leave, to see what we hold about you, or to have it deleted. To change your address, leave and join again with the new one.
